12 Days Nepal/Tibet

HMT 09: 12 days Nepal/Tibet Fly in –Drive out

Day01: Arrival/Kathmandu
Upon arrival you’ll meet our representatives and be transferred to your hotel.
Day 02 : Kathmandu/ Swayambhunath/ Patan
After breakfast you’ll start your tour visiting Swayambhunath temple which is said to be a 2000 years old stupa on a hillock that offers a breathtaking view of Kathmandu city, You will then proceed to visit Kathmandu city and its ancient Durbar Square which is full of historical monuments and temples. After lunch you’ll visit Patan(Lalitpur) city which is the oldest of the three major cities in the Kathmandu Valley- famous for its Buddhist monuments and Hindu temples and you can catch a glimpse of the traditional artisan working with wood, stone and metals. We then process to visit the Tibetan Resettlement Camp where you can see the spinning, dyeing and the weaving of Tibetans and Nepalese carpet by the Tibetan refugees.
Day 03 : Pashupati/Boudha/Kirtipur
After breakfast you’ll visit Pashupatinath temple, Nepal’s holiest Hindu shrine and Boudhanath Stupa, one of the world’s largest stupa (Buddhistr shrine) which is also known as little Tibet. After lunch you’ll proceed to visit Kirtipur, an old Newar town situated on a small hillock which offers an excellent view of Kathmandu and its surroundings. The town itself boasts of many ancient monuments including the famed temple of Tiger Faced Bhairava.
Day 04: Fly Kathmandu Lhasa
After early breakfast, on tiome you’ll be transferred to airport to board flight to Lhasa. Upon arrival at Gonggar airport our representative will transfer you to the Hotel (90 kms). Rest of ther day at leisure to acclimatize.
Day 05/06/07 Three full day at Lhasa
Three full day will be spent in Lhasa, the religious cultural and economic center.
Tibet Sightseeing includes: Potala Palace: A fortress built atop a Red hill in the 7th century that over the years became 13 storied, 1000 rooms citadel to the primary of Buddhism in Tibet.
Norbulinka Summer Palace : The name means “Jeweled Gasrden”, fitting title for this 200 years old park, stretching over 360,000 sq. meters. The 370 rooms summer palace of Dalai Lama is located inside the park.
Drepung Monastery : This ancoient structure is said to be the largest monastery in the world, which once housed 10,000 Lamas
Jokhang Temple : This oldest Buddhist temple in Tibet (1,300 years old) conatins Tibet’s most precious golden Shakya Munio Buddha, a gift of the Chinese prioncess Wen Cheng to Empereor Shroong Chong Gumpo. This relic is displayed in the Great hall and is still sought out by the religious pilgrims.
Barkhor Bustling Market: This is Lhasa’s inner pilgrim circuit shaped roughly like an octagon, which runs around the Jokhang temple and is a typical Tubetian market place.
Sera Monastery: Located outside Lhasa City proper is home for 155 monks. It commands a spectacular view of Lhasa and is at the foot of Wudu Mountain.
Ganden Monastery: Located at 70km East of Lhasa and is the second biggest monasteries. Situated at an altitude 4,300m in a bowl like amphitheater, it was demolished in 1959 and is now restored partially.
Day 08 : Lhasa/Gyantse/Xigatse
After breakfast, take the southern route driving alone the foretress city of Gyantse and reach Xigatse in the evening.
Day 09: At Xigatse
Full day at Xigatse, the second largest town of Tibet. A visit to the Tashilunpo Monastery, the traditional seat of Panchen Lama and Salu monastery is the highlight of the day. Overnight stay hotel at Xigatse.
Day 10: Xigatse/Zhangmu
After breakfast leave Xigatse for Zhangmu. The days drive passes through Lhasa. Tingri west and the old trading post of Nyalam. You will also see Mt.Everest from the north face and Mt.Xiaxapangma before you arrive at Zhangmu.
Day 11: Zhangmu/Kodari (Tibet Nepal Border)
After breakfast, leave Zhangmu and arrive at Kodari, Tibet Nepal friendship bridge and continue to drive to Kathmandu(06 hours). Upon arrival in Kathmandu check in at the hotel and in the evening you will be taken to the Banchhaghar restaurant for a farewell Nepalese dinner and cultural dance.
Day 12 : Depart from Kathmandu
After breakfast, in time you’ll be transferred to the airport for your final departure from Nepal to board the onwards journey flight.
